ISOLDE
ISOLDE
*Isolde has nothing in common with the more well known bearer of her name. But unlike the Isolde of Celtic Mythology, this Isolde does have something in common with Kirsten Flagstad, the legendary Norwegian Soprano who sang the part of Isolde at the Metropolitan Opera in 1935. Like Flagstad, Isolde grew up in a house full of opera. Her parents are both musicians, her father the violin and her mother the flute, and they both play with the Met. So it came as something of a surprise to all of them when Isolde at the tender age of 6, went to work with her parents one day, wandered into an open audition for the Children’s Chorus, and started to sing. Boy could she sing. The selection committee was blown away. Talk about a bring your daughter to work experience. She attended the Manhattan School of Music, then started working at the Met. She’s branched out these days, doing a bit of scatting at the Close Up in the Lower East Side, a little indie at Warsaw in Williamsburg with her band Isolde and the Whoos ,but her heart still lives at the Metropolitan Opera House, her home away from home. And when she gets to be on stage, her parents down below accompanying her, singing her heart out, her wings aflutter, not only is she is incandescent, she soars.
Isolde is approximately 6” tall
