Flynn.always wanted to be a pirate. The dashing swashbuckling kind, not the cuthroat kill or be killed kind. On his 10th birthday he begged for a pirate themed party on a real boat. That’s when he discovered he was the victim of a diabolical plot inflicted on him by his hornswoggling bilge-rat family. Seasickness from the grandparents to the smallest cousin! Not a single one of them had sea legs.His entire family was nothing but a bunch of landlubbers! He loudly lamented the injustice of it all in what his Nana politely referred to as ‘colorful language’.Thankfully that same Nana had gone to school with someone who was an acolyte of John Selwyn Bromley, a historian known as the father of Pirate Studies,. Altlhough Flynn couldn’t realize his dream of being a pirate, because (arrr!) it made him physically ill, he did end up with a PHD in Maritime History with a concentration in Pirates Studies. You can often hear his  students refer to him as Captain Flynn. Yar!
