Civia is a sneakerhead. Seems weird for an owl, but there it is. She loves everything about sneakers. Her first foray into the world of sneakers was in 1988 when she got a pair of Air Jordan 111’s. This was the  first shoe designed by Tinker Hatfield and features visible Nike Air and decorative synthetic elephant skin: Damn she loved those shoes…you never forget your first, but she definitely didn’t stop there. At this point she’s got over 200 pairs in her collection. Her parents thought she was crazy spending all her hard earned money on shoes, until she started making money instead of just spending. She collects, she trades, she admires. She also writes. Civia got a job at Sneakernews straight out of school. If you ask her about her job or her kicks she’ll tell you that Sneaker culture isn’t just about shoes—it’s about knowing the language, the history, and the hustle. Civia has got that hustle down.
